Several years ago I came across an ad on Craigslist selling dubia and red runner roaches. I was feeding several scorpions and a couple of leopard geckos and was sick of buying crickets. I replied to the ad and got a quick response back from the owner Josh.
Soon I realized he only lived a mile away from me which was fantastic. I went over to pick up my roaches and he gave me a tour of his insect collection and I was blown away by the variety and quality of his insects and isopods.
Isopods are in the order of crustaceans and there are over 10,000 different species. Around 4,500 live in marine environments, 500 live in fresh water and 5,000 live on land.
I’m sure you have overturned a log and have seen these armoured crustaceans scatter for cover. Most eat dead and decaying leave material. Here in the United States you commonly see grey or brown woodlice.
The Iso Pyscho specializes in breeding uncommon terrestrial species of isopods and has a ton of varieties and colors to chose from .
Last time I checked Josh had 15 different species of roaches for sale. Roaches come in so many different sizes and colors. They make great feeder insects for reptiles but they are also very interesting to keep and observe.
If your looking to setup a bioactive terrarium Josh can hook you up. He sells the cleaner insects, substrate, dry leaves.
